The commissioners decided to move the school to a slightly more desirable location, but not to the most desirable location.
The most unfortunate fact of this whole process, one that was cited by commissioners at the retreat, is that the planning of Twin Creeks failed to understand what really makes a walkable school and failed to determine the correct rules for a legally walkable school zone. The assumption was that any child within one and one half miles as the crow flies could walk. But Steve Scroggs cited during the December commissioner meeting that the law governing this is clear that the path through the woods nor the path next to a heavily travelled road would qualify. Nor was the actual travel distance taken into account as required (it is not a straight line map distance).
The next step in the process is to appoint a committee to see if the slightly more desirable location is feasible.
